Access to healthcare for persons with disabilities: Online Workshops

The Commission, in partnership with HaDEA and the European Disability Forum, is organising a series of online workshops on how to enhance access to healthcare for persons with disabilities.

The workshops will take place on the following dates:

  • 26 June: Governance, data, leadership, and cost-benefit analysis on affordability
  • 1 July: Informed consent, healthcare professionals' competencies, and cost-benefit analysis on accessibility
  • 2 July: De-institutionalisation, service integration, and cost-benefit analysis on availability

The workshops aim to look at how to eliminate barriers to healthcare and foster inclusivity of health systems, enabling individuals with disabilities to participate fully in society.  They are an opportunity to learn how to build accessible healthcare services that address specific medical needs and prevent additional health complications. The workshops will blend policy discussions with practical applications, facilitating a robust exploration of implementation challenges and opportunities.

Key stakeholders include representatives from national authorities - Ministries of Health, Social Affairs and Justice - as well as EU and national-level organisations representing people with disabilities.
